I am commanded by the Air Council to forward, for

the information of Mr. Secretary Amery, the enclosed copy

of correspondence which has passed between the War Office

and themselves in regard to the proposed use of Kai Tak

aerodrome for an experimental air mail and passenger

service. In this connection I am also to refer to the

communications from the Foreign Office of the 1st and 15th

November (copies of which were stated to have been sent

to the Colonial Office) with regard to the appointment of

an aeronautical adviser to the Canton Government.

The Air Council presume that Mr. Secretary

Amery would be notified direct by the Governor of the

details of any proposals for the establishment of a civil

aviation service touching Hong Kong, and of the arrangements

which the Hong Kong Government contemplate as regards the

use of Kai Tak aerodrome for that purpose. The Air

Council would be glad to have an opportunity of considering

The Under Secretary of State,

Colonial Office,

S.W.1.
